Intro Level - Gateway Course

Polestar Pilates Gateway

Gateway Pilates

Gateway is an entry level training for those who will like to gain more exposure to Pilates without committing full training course. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of each Gateway module.

The Gateway Course started with 3hrs Gateway Online module provides the student with fundamental information on:

  • History of Pilates

  • Movement principles

  • Professional ethics (Scope of practices)



Each of these sections is followed by a brief written exam online.

Gateway Online is followed by any of the three creatively and exclusively designed Polestar Gateway, 2 day/ 16 hour contact courses (Pilates Mat, Reformer and Equipment) which if taken as stand-alone training, will equip students with an introductory level of Pilates teaching skills and also form the base component of the Polestar Professional Level Qualification. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of each Gateway module. Please note that Gateway is an introductory level course and not a full qualification.

* Students must complete either Gateway Online or PP online before taking any Polestar Gateway course.

Gateway Mat

Two interactive hands on training days for students to experience Pilates Mat exercise, comprised of a set of four sequences using preparatory and original Pilates Mat exercises. The exercises are explained in a lab format, with time allotted for teaching and demonstration for students. During the class, students have the opportunity to receive feedback directly from the Gateway educators to become proficient with the Gateway Mat work.

Polestar Principles

The Polestar Principles module is a mandatory foundation course for all the Professional Level Qualification follows on from the Gateway Course. This comprehensive course carried out online, introduces current research in movement science, motor learning, bioenergetics, and communication science to instructional practice through six basic movement principles which are used throughout the Polestar Pilates curriculum.

Using evidence-based research, you will discover and develop the tools to provide either assistance for or challenge your clients in helping them achieve their goals. This is 10-hour course with 8 segments. Each segment will be available after the completion of the previous one. Quizzes, resources, and discussions qualify your learning as you go through the course.

Polestar Pilates Mat – Qualification Course

Polestar Pilates Mat Course

The Polestar Pilates Mat course modules adds depth to the basic learned in Gateway Mat 1, discover the building blocks of movement throughout the full repertoire of Pilates exercises as executed in their pure form on the mat.

In Mat Intermediate and Mat Advanced modules, students learn an amazing array of Pilates mat exercises, and how to build and sequence their classes according to client fitness levels and special needs. In Mat Advanced, students will continue to refine all Intermediate Mat skills, expand the exercise repertoire and build upon Polestar signature educational methods which are renowned for their thoroughness, quality and effectiveness. The Pilates Mat programme consists of 3 contact days.

Aside from course hours, there are additional hours required for graduation. Extra Curriculum study hours inclusive of observation, apprentice teaching, and self-mastery hours are the responsibility of the student to complete outside of the course.

Polestar Comprehensive Studio & Rehabilitation – Qualification Course

Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Course

Following on from the Gateway series, Comprehensive Pilates series consists of four two-day modules that allow you to evaluate the practical applications of Pilates exercises, develop assessment techniques, understand movement sequences, and modify exercises and programs for individuals. Each course module adds to the student’s repertoire of exercises (a total of 130 different exercises are taught) performed on the full range of Pilates equipment, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Mat and small props and focusses on a specialized topic as developed by Polestar so as to further elevate teaching standards.

Completion of the Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Program qualifies you to sit for the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA®) Certification exam. This course will also integrate critical reasoning techniques based on a NAGI model to facilitate decision making within the Pilates rehabilitation environment. All training is supported by web-enhanced learning.
