How we started
Essential Movement Studio established in 2006 by Ong Hooi Koon and Gan Yee Fen, offers a wide range of mind, body movements techniques such as Pilates, GYROTONIC® and alternative treatment through Rolfing and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
Our studio located in Jalan Bangkung in the popular neighbourhood of Bangsar, offers a warm and welcoming environment where we can assist you to find a suitable exercise regime or alleviate back pain, neck and shoulder tension.
Essential Movement Studio is fully equipped with a full range of Pilates and Gyrotonic® equipment as well as small auxiliary exercise apparatus. We offer mat work and equipment classes.
Classes, be they in small groups or an individual basis are tailored to meet our clients’ needs. They are ensured of receiving the personal attention they require.
Our team of dedicated experienced instructors have been extensively trained in the Pilates and Gyrotonic® method, as well as a variety of other exercise methods.

Gan Yee Fen
Gan began her Pilates journey in the form of dance. As a young ballerina, she was involved in various productions such as mixed-bills, dance dramas, school concerts and festivals.
Ong Hooi Koon
Despite her petite figure, Ong is a little fireball! She brings spice to her sessions while keeping anyone under her wings focused in the movement at hand.
Dileri is simply rebellious, gypsy, free soul. After years of Traveling around Asia, she has been established in Kuala Lumpur in which she considers as her home (contemporary) country.
Yin Ching began her Pilates journey a few years ago after the birth of her second child. It was through a private session of Pilates that started her journey in Pilates.
Tan Bee Hung
Trained predominantly in contemporary dance and ballet, movements and dance have always been important in her life.
